- No lifting, bending, stooping or straining.
- Flex your leg calf muscles for 3 minutes every hour while awake. Avoid crossing or massaging your legs.

1. Prescriptions:
- Use medications as prescribed. You may resume your pre-op medications, except aspirin and Motrin, which you should not take for one week after surgery.
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages – beer and wine included – for 48 hours. They do not mix with anesthesia and may make you very sick. Also do not mix alcoholic beverages with pain pills.
- Do not do anything that requires any coordination for 48 hours after surgery and while you are taking pain medication. The medication and/or anesthetic agents may interfere with good judgment. You may drive when you are no longer taking pain medications.
2. Call Dr. Andochick if you notice any excessive swelling, bleeding, or soreness.
3. It is necessary that you stay quiet and do little talking for the next 48 hours as excessive activity may cause bleeding to occur.
4. Sleep on two or more pillows, or in a reclining chair. Keeping your head elevated will help decrease soreness and swelling.
5. Lacri-Lube ointment must be placed on all eyelid sutures until they are removed. This is especially important on the lower eyelid sutures right under your eye lashes and on the inside sutures of your upper eyelids. If additional Lacri-Lube is needed, a tube can be purchased at your pharmacy.
6. Place frozen peas in a Ziploc bag, wrap inside a cloth. Apply over the eyes every 20 to 30 minutes, and continue this for 24-48 hours.
7. You may drink liquids when you arrive home. By evening, you may have a light meal.
8. Patient must not be left alone for 24 hours.
9. Do not smoke for one week after surgery as this affects healing.
10. You should not attempt to read or watch TV for long periods for the first week after surgery.
11. When Dr. Andochick instructs you, begin to massage your incisions to decrease the sensitivity and scar formation.
12. Do not hesitate to call the doctor’s office if you have any questions about your surgery.
